We provide education to impoverished children who lack access to quality and affordable schools. We support 100+ schools with an enrollment of 32,000 students.
Our Impact
We believe that building better boys and girls through education will build a better India. Here is the impact we’ve made since the dedication of our first primary school in January 1965.
Current Projects
We fund education projects in four states of India. Poverty, illiteracy rates, and partnerships help us determine where we work. We target rural, slum, and red light areas where there are few schools and a high concentration of uneducated poor.
Stories From the Field
Education changes a child’s life. It opens wide a door to the rest of the world and invites him to jump through it. Students in our network of schools share their adventures in learning and dreams for a better future.
A City Without Illiteracy
We have a goal at Calcutta Mercy. By 2020, we want to ensure the sustainability of our schools for disadvantaged children. To do this we need sponsors for all of those students, at $35 per month per student, but that is how we are going to end illiteracy in Calcutta.
