Be it cooking, talking, or cleaning together, Neha loves spending time with her mother. “Hopefully one day we can travel, too,” her mother exclaims as she and Neha exchange meaningful glances.
Neha and her younger sister were both born with cleft palates. For their family, it is a great blessing and relief of a painful burden to receive free surgeries, as they could not have afforded them otherwise.
This is especially important to Neha as it will not be long before her parents start the marriage arrangement process. Her surgery allows her to play a greater part in her community and culture without having to endure mistreatment because of her appearance and speech impediment. In addition to one day having a family, Neha hopes to become a doctor, helping others like the doctors who have helped her.
